I know that seeking out and beginning one’s therapy journey requires a great deal of courage. The clients I work with generally arrive facing tremendously challenging life events that often leave them feeling overwhelmed, helpless, bereaved, and even broken. My main priority as a clinician is to provide a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space where you feel supported and can imagine and realize new possibilities. Your stories, life experiences, strengths and weaknesses, spiritualities, and identities will be witnessed, honored, and respected.
Ultimately, your goals and a collaborative therapeutic relationship are what form the foundation of any work we do together. Although I prioritize narrative, attachment, somatic and internal family systems (IFS) approaches and believe in the power of self-compassion, mindfulness, creativity, and imagination, I also incorporate aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solutions-focused and psychodynamic therapies to meet clients’ individual needs.
I specialize in working with youth and adults across the lifespan, particularly those whose lives have been impacted by trauma. As an LGBTQIA-identified therapist, I see it as a privilege to support those in the queer community. For individuals who have experienced religious trauma or spiritual abuse, I understand how impactful these types of traumas can be. I also know that individuals have the capacity to grow and flourish as they learn to trust, love, and become their most authentic selves.

My goal is to bring a warm presence, calm demeanor, and intentionality to the therapeutic space. I understand that building connection and rapport are the foundation to all other therapeutic work and therefore I prioritize an environment where you can feel truly seen, heard, and understood without judgement. My purpose as a therapist is to provide that safe place where together we can explore your conscious and unconscious thoughts and gain insight into the parts of your life where you may be having difficulty. I recognize that therapy is a collaborative effort, and that each client is the expert in their own life. Thus, I will work with you to understand your unique life experiences and create a tailored treatment plan so that you can reach healing and wholeness. I will assist you on this journey by helping you understand how past experiences are impacting you, and will help you identify your own strengths, skills, and goals by providing tools that you can use even long after therapy is finished.
I have experience supporting needs related to: children and youth, young adults, families, life transitions, drug and alcohol issues, trauma, attachment challenges, co-dependency, self-esteem, depression, suicidal ideation, grief, and anxiety.

Rob was born, adopted, and raised in Upstate South Carolina, where he learned to love everything college football, bluegrass music, and deep fried. Shortly after high school, Rob enlisted in the United States Army. Upon leaving the military, Rob moved to Oregon in 2014 with his spouse, who was raised here in Oregon. Rob graduated from Umpqua Community College, then attended University of Oregon from where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in General Social Sciences with a concentration in Crime, Law, and Society. From UO, Rob took a stroll across Alder Street to Bushnell University, where he earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
As an autistic adult, Rob sees the world through a different lens than some other folks, and this gives him a unique approach to psychotherapy. In addition, autism allows Rob to have a deeper understanding and appreciation for neurodivergent clients. As a veteran, Rob has plenty of experience in working with other veterans and their unique experiences. As an adoptee, Rob understands the struggles of abandonment and identity exploration that comes with being adopted. All of these intersecting experiences bring a unique perspective to Rob’s clinical approach. Rob employs a blend of narrative, existential, and client-centered therapeutic interventions, relying heavily on Lenihanian dialectics to help clients make sense of their experiences and find healing and peace.
Concerning hobbies, Rob is an enthusiastic Tolkiendil, in proud possession of an extensive library of books and collections by Tolkien. A quote that Rob often uses in sessions: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

I am an advocate of change, growth, and self-fulfillment. Transitions in life are difficult, whether it is changing jobs, relationships, environments, or simply aging and rediscovering yourself. I can help you to define yourself and the how you fit within your own life by finding meaning in the small things that go by unnoticed or by helping to restructure and find balance for a specific goal. I am flexible in my approach so that I can meet you where you are and help you move toward healing, happiness, or whatever goals you may have.

I believe the most valuable therapeutic relationships are those that honor and validate your past and present experiences, with the intention of identifying and navigating obstacles to healing and growth. I approach our work together with respect, empathy, curiosity, and authenticity, so you have a safe supportive place to explore: patterns of thought, feeling, physical sensation, and behavior; your relationship with yourself and with the important people in your life; and the valued directions in which you would like to travel. At times, insights gained in sessions can be made more actionable through new skills, and our focus may shift to their introduction and practice.
My approach is integrative, in this sense, as I draw from approaches that emphasize the insights born out of exploration, as well as approaches that focus on developing new ways to navigate existing challenges. I prioritize flexibility and responsiveness in my work with you, and all choices regarding our work together are done in collaboration. Areas of focus include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life-transitions, and communication.

I believe that all people have the potential to change. Making changes to yourself can be a confusing process that brings up some of the deepest insecurities, weaknesses, and pain. Together we can make space for those tough feelings to surface and we can work collaboratively to discover your strengths to empower you on your healing journey.
I value authentic connections and seek to empower all I come in contact with. As a white woman in the United States, I recognize the social constructions that define our gender roles, power structures, and identities and work to help my clients define their own values, beliefs, identity, and expression for themselves. I provide affirmative counseling to the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities and all oppressed people who hold a minority identity.
I am currently studying to become a Licensed Professional Counselor at Adams State University. My life journey is a confluence of creativity, movement, expression, and collaboration. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Oregon and have been certified as a practitioner of Structural Integration. I was a dance educator for over 20 years, teaching in studios, high schools, colleges, universities, and in the community. I learned the power of storytelling through movement patterns which expressed and reflected the oneness of human experience. Witnessing the vulnerability that dance embodies, I knew that there was a connection between how our minds work and what our bodies show, which led me to become interested in counseling.

I believe your mental health is just as important as other aspects of your health and dealing with feelings like anger, shame, ambivalence, and loneliness isn’t something you should have to do alone. In either case, I am happily honored to be your counselor and meet your needs while dealing with the uncertainty, depression, anxiety, or disconnection that comes with the struggle of being human.
I utilize a flexibly integrative approach to therapy that builds upon your personal strengths to strategically promote health and regeneration of the mind, body, and spirit. Well, here we are, most of us are recovering from a global pandemic, monkeypox, and now we must worry whether our children will be safe in their schools and whether to return to work or work from home. The decisions we must make for ourselves and our families can be difficult and sometimes that can be very overwhelming. Life can be stressful; I know firsthand what it’s like to suffer and make sacrifices I wasn’t ready for. I too have issues; I would be lying to you if I told you otherwise. Sometimes it can feel as if we have no one to talk to and nobody who cares. Well, that’s not true, I care, and we can face life's issues together. You don’t have to face this alone.
I possess over 25 years of experience in working with an array of mental health disorders; anxiety, depression, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Human Trafficking victims and survivors of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse as well as grief and loss and have guided people of different nationalities, children, adolescents, young adults as well as with older adults.
I believe in providing a person-centered approach in which your own life experiences and beliefs are acknowledged and respected. Your priority is my priority as you are in essence the expert in your life. I will guide you and help you through any obstacles you are facing, and we will face them together.

I received my Bachelor's in Social Work and Master's in Social Work from George Fox University. I am currently under the supervision of Cindy Nesiba as I work towards becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
I work primarily with children and teens struggling with a variety of mental health and behavioral concerns looking to understand the impact of their experiences. I approach care from attachment and family systems theory lenses, primarily utilizing motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and include family in treatment to best support the youth. I value working alongside parents in gaining knowledge and skills to cultivate growth with their child. While I understand it is not always the child's decision to engage in therapy, I work to build relationships with my clients to provide them a safe space to express their needs. It is important to me that LGBTQ+ and other marginalized populations feel safe and advocated for in their care.
